Art Prompt 7- Rainbow string

9:00:00 AM

This is a very simple doodle exercise. Gather your supplies:

  • Black Sharpie
  • Paper
  • Watercolor paints
Start by making a large scribble that covers the entire page. Allow your arm to make big fluid movements as you draw. You want large open spaces and loops. Try to make the entire doodle consist of one line. Then once you have your doodle choose a starting point and use your watercolor paints to trace over the line you made. I chose to follow rainbow order for mine. ROYGBIV (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet) If you choose this method as well start with red an progress through the colors ending your line with Violet. Feel free, however, to paint you line in any color combinations you wish!

Extra Credit:
Once your line is painted, fill in your negative spaces with doodles. I used gel pens to doodle in each space.

As always, I would love to see your take on this prompt. Feel free to add a comment with a photo of your project!
