Art Prompt 4- Splatter doodles

Do you remember splatter painting as a kid? Remember how much fun it was to watch all that paint fall onto the crisp white paper? All of those bright colors hit the page and explode. There is no telling where they will land or what they will look like when they do. What fun!
This prompt takes that idea just one step further. You get to have all the fun of splatter paint, then you use those splatters as a jumping off point for some doodling.

OK, so back to our prompt for the week, Splatter Doodles!

- The first thing you need to do is create your splatters. I used Luminarte H2O paints which are individual watercolor tubs infused with mica which give them a beautiful shimmer. If you don't have these any water based paint will work. If you are local feel free to come in for an Open Studio sessions and try ours out. They are located on the Advanced materials shelf. Remember that the paint needs to be very watery so that it will drip and splatter on your page.
- Let your splatters dry completely before doodling.
- Time to doodle. Note, the key to doodling is to have your attention on something else. So turn on some good music, pull up a pod cast or turn on a movie...
- Start doodling! Your doodles can be representational or they can just be lines. Have fun and don't worry too much about the outcome. For my doodles I used gel pens because the colors and shimmer worked so well with the Luminarte H2O paints. You can use any type of pen you wish. Ultra fin tip sharpies work very well for this project but if all you have is a ball point pen, then go for it!
